Glam Mermaid
I feel like at some point in their life everyone wanted to be a mermaid! This gorgeous glam look takes little effort but is sure to wow. Order the fin tail (super easy to walk in), corset and long wavy wig above. Don’t forget to add in those special under the sea-themed accessories like a nude/through heels, shell bag, statement necklace and gold starfish hair piece.
Then shop for some sparkly temporary tattoo scales to finish off the look. These are so cool! Just an FYI, the scales look better when applied to hard spots on your face, not the neck. I love how Cassie applied hers right near the wig for the crown look.
Use the Elf cosmetic glitter primer to apply the Unicorn chunky glitter. Apply the primer first, then dab the glitter on top with your finger. It dries fast and stays in place all night. Top it all off with purple glitter eye shadow, big lashes and some colored contacts found here.
Sarah Sanderson
It’s all just a bunch of hocus pocus, right? I had so much fun with this witchy number. Super simple to throw together and go! Layer the red wrap skirt (I would size up one) around the bodice of the pink dress. Add the witchy velvet purple cape to really tie off the look. The wig speaks for itself-it’s perfectly Sara (and the same as the mermaid one linked above). I went without shoes for this look, but you could pair the look with some black boots too.
For the makeup- just add light powdered foundation to your face, apply a good dark smokey eye, and don’t forget the beauty mark on you chin. I applied mine with black liquid eyeliner and it stayed right in place. Lastly, and the most important thing in my opinion, is to make your brows super dark and big using a brow pencil. I used a dark brown eyeliner pencil which completed the entire look!
Chucky
Had to throw a creative creepy costume in here too! This one is a classic choice and super easy to put together last minute! Grab a pair of overalls, stripped shirt, white tennis, knee highs and of course that red wig (adjustable). You can purchase the Chucky ‘Good Guys’ patch on Etsy to really sell the look. Then take the costume to the next level with a fake bloody knife. Cassie even found a purse you can purchase that looks like Chucky’s knife-crazy!
It wouldn’t be a Chucky costume without some horrifying blood right? To make the bloody scars on your face, apply the temporary tattoos then take a regular red lip liner and draw lines in between to connect them. You can use metallic eyeliner to draw lines over the scars to make it look like staples are over the scars. Don’t forget to order fake blood gel and apply over the scars for a real gory look.
Cassie pro tips:
- When cutting the temporary tattoos, make sure to cut them close so you can’t see the white adhesive outline. They will apply easier and look more authentic.
- Purchase light blue color contacts that look just like Chucky’s real eyes. You can buy great halloween color contacts here. Even the lighter color contacts will still cover the color of dark eyes.
Sia
Baby I don’t need dollar bills to have fun tonight… This one is definitely an easy, and cheap thrill 🙂 It is especially great if you don’t want to apply makeup, are an introvert OR are attending a party in secret… shhh.
Make sure when you buy the white shirt to size up plenty for length. I wore Spanx underneath just in case too! Pair with knee high black boots and some red lipstick. The wig obviously makes the entire look! It is fully adjustable to fit any head size but doesn’t come with a wig cap so you’ll need to order that separately.
I suggest ordering the extra bow linked above, since the one that comes with the wig is hard to secure on top of the wig. The one sold separately comes on a nice headband so it stays in place better. If you don’t want to spend the extra money, you can also get crafty and glue the bow to an existing headband at home:)
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
Ok, you know I had to include a group costume in here too, especially since Tucker looked so cute! I love this witty idea- it was so simple to throw together! I purchased the lion dog costume for $10 and the witch hat for near to nothing years ago in a dollar section I think (linked a cheap one above).
The big key here is whoever is the wardrobe has to go all out haha. I just grabbed as much as I could from my closet to wear, really going for an exaggerated look. And that’s it!
We got so many laughs and it was the perfect no hassle, minimal effort costume for both Tucker and Chase. Plus, it was fun for me to layer on all my favorite outfit pieces in one look haha. Added bonus: this outfit is sure to keep you warm if you live somewhere chilly!
